The Haitian earthquake has killed an estimated 150-200,000 people according to the Red Cross and left up to 1,000,000 people without shelter. It is a disaster of epic proportions.
Fortunately, the world is reaching out. More than 20 governments, the U.N. and private aid groups were sending planeloads of high-energy biscuits and other food, tons of water, tents, blankets, water-purification gear, heavy equipment for removing debris, helicopters and other transport. But following the 7.0-magnitude quake, aid efforts have been slowed by a damaged seaport and an airport that turned away civilian aid planes at the beginning.
Also, in emergency relief like this, too many well-intentioned groups can cause chaos in coordination. What sets VOCF apart is:
a. VOCF partners with groups already on the ground.
b. VOCF takes 0% overhead from your donation.
c. VOCF only partners with groups who appropriately share both physical and spiritual help.
In this case, VOCF is immediately partnering with two trusted and experienced relief partners:
- Korea Food for the Hungry International
- Harvest Foundation
Both organizations were on the ground in Haiti fast. You can see the time-line of their activities in their attached files.
A donation of $25 can immediately provide an emergency packet of water, food, and essentials to a family. $100 can provide emergency supplies to 4 families. As our partners on the ground determine the best way to help, we will adjust the size and type of assistance. Again, VOCF will take 0% from donations and pass all funds to the partners on the ground.
You can donate either:
- Online here.
- Mail a check to VOCF, 2993 Tulip Trace, Lexington, KY 40503, USA
Please help us share God’s love to our Haitian brothers and sisters!
