Project Description:
Financial support and administrative input for Padeng Tai, Karen children in Petchaburee province. Financial support would provide meals, clean beds and mattress, and a clean environment for the children to stay in at night. Other inputs would include monitoring the care and treatment of the children, organizing volunteers for teaching the children, occasional recreation trips, and organizing a sport and recreation (shelters league).
Background and Description of Need:
What do you do when you have 3 children but only enough rice for 2? This is one of the main reasons why there are so many children sick, skinny and stay in not enough clean environment in Padeng Tai community. Parents often have to make the decision between starvation of the entire family and thrusting their oldest son out into the big city to fend for themselves or work in factory to search for a better life. In other cases, children have fled abusive home situations. When asked what he would like to do when he grows up, one young boy replied that he wanted to become big and strong so that he will help their parent do something and that is the way they’re thinking.
There are 150 children in this center. The age is from 3 years until 14 years. Their parents would send the children to this place so that they can go to work. This children center is on one belonging, but the head of this village and others committee saw the need that is overwhelming. Kids will stay over night including three meals, but there is not enough food for them. How can they grow without a good care, good food and knowing that God cares and loves all the kids.
